The new kid on the Block

We added a new member to our little family. His name is Felix James Price. He was born at 12:51 AM on Dec.27th 2013. His due date was Feb. 06 but he showed up 6 weeks early. He tried to show up on Christmas Night but we were able to stretch it out until the 27th. I was in labor for 28 hours. It was really painful and the shots they gave me to try to stop contractions REALLY hurt. Since he was so early I had to deliver him in the O.R. so they could put him directly in the hands of the NICU. It took about 3 contractions and he was out. He came out weighing in at 5.5 which is big for a baby that early. I was discharged within 24 hours and Felix had to stay :(
He stayed in the NICU for 17 days. Those were some rough days. Our family would watch Dexter while we drove to stay for about 2 or 3 hours and hold him while he slept. He did set the record for getting back up past his birth weight within a week of being born. He was an eating champion. At one point that had to put the IV in his head... that was not fun for us to see. After getting his breathing under control he got to come home!
He is currently 10 months. He crawls all over the place. He started crawling a little late at about 8 months but nothing stops him now. He loves crawling up the stairs. We are working on crawling back down backwards. He loves almost ALL food. We have been pretty strict with what he eats since we learned our lesson with our first. He especially loves to eat meat. YES! I consider that a parenting win! He is a daddy's boy for sure. He shrieks with excitement when daddy gets home and crawls over to him. He got his little finger smashed in a door... almost the same way that MY tip of my pinky got cut off. The nail plate got ripped out of the nail bed. That was traumatic for all involved but he is healing. His little bandaged fingers haven't slowed him down. He is a happy little guy. He is sometimes fussy because he is working on some teeth. He doesn't have any yet but there is one threatening on the bottom left and his eye tooth on the top right. He loves sleeping in his crib on his tummy, pulling himself to standing, food, baths, showers, tickles, and his big brother. He is such a blessing. We are glad he is ok and growing well! Welcome to the Family baby nugget.

Dexter Update 11.14.2014

Wow- It has been a really long time since I have blogged. I think Dexter was maybe 2. There have been some pretty big changes since then which included adding a baby to the family which will be another post all together.I wanted this post to be mostly about Dexter. I need this blog to be my memory for me.
Dexter is 4 and a half. He really is the sweetest little boy. He is funny, sassy, and caring. He tells me literally everyday that I am pretty and that he likes me. He has a new baby brother that he adores and can always make him laugh. He is sensitive and sure doesn't like it when we get angry with him. He is smart and copies everything. He is a sponge too. He is getting braver as we speak. He is in a movie theater for the first time right now! He eats primarily peanut butter sandwiches. He still loves sweets but we have to keep that in check so that he will eat other foods. He loves apples (thank goodness). He has also been picking out what to wear more now too. Some of his outfits make me laugh but I let him wear it anyway. He still likes to cuddle and I will take that as long as it lasts. He calls the corner of his blankets "pettings" and likes to rub them on his skin. It keeps him comfortable. When he is being particularly cuddly he will rub it on me or Adam or the baby.
He loves pokemon and spider man right now. He was spiderman for Halloween (for the second time) but he loved Halloween this year. He has been potty trained since he was 2 1/2 and changes his underpants as often as he can. :)  He did his first Primary program this month. He spoke into the microphone and didn't need any help. His part was " Heavenly Father helps us take care of the earth". He amazes me every day. He will talk your ear off if you let him.  He sleeps in his big boy bed pretty well and when we move (in about 2 weeks) we are putting him in a twin bed.He is pretty excited. He is excited for school next year too. He has an amazing memory so I am hoping school is easy for him.
He has the cutest teeth. I am not looking forward to when he loses them. He is 100% boy and has so many bruises and scrapes form all of his adventures. He still thinks tooting, poop, and burping are hilarious. *warning poop story*
He is working on wiping his own bum. I came up to help check and while he was wiping a little piece of toilet got stuck... he looked back and saw it and then bent over, shook his bum at me and said "look I have a ponytail" hahaha. I hope he stays this cute forever!
He is such a blessing. I am so lucky he is mine and I wouldn't trade him for anything. I can't wait to see what our future holds!
